Brault & Martineau Partners with TECSYS to Automate its 600,000-sq-ft. Warehouse

MONTREAL, May 24, 2005 — TECSYS Inc. announced today that Brault & Martineau, Quebec’s furniture and appliance industry leader, has chosen the TECSYS EliteSeries Warehouse Management System for iSeries to automate its 600,000-square-foot distribution center, one of the largest of its kind in Quebec. Brault & Martineau chose TECSYS Logistics Management Group’s solution from among those of 10 other providers. The decision was based on the EliteSeries Warehouse Management Systems for iSeries’ advanced functionality, ease of integration with the company’s ERP system and ability to run in an iSeries technology environment.

“This is part of a larger effort to revamp our distribution operations, using a state-of-the-art warehouse management system in a real-time environment and sophisticated radio frequency technology and bar coding systems,” explains Pierre Pecquet, Brault & Martineau’s Chief Financial Officer. “Brault & Martineau has always had an eye on the impact our operations have on customer satisfaction. The more efficient and productive we are in the distribution center, the better we can serve our customers. That’s the real driver behind these changes.”

In automating its distribution center, Brault & Martineau is targeting increased inventory accuracy and more efficient warehouse operations. With 300 warehouse employees in total, and some 60 on a given shift, every movement needs to be coordinated for the distribution center to operate at peak efficiency. The directed put-away offered by the TECSYS solution lets warehouse employees know exactly where an item should go based on size, weight, turnover and other key factors.

In choosing the EliteSeries Warehouse Management System for iSeries, Brault & Martineau decided to leverage the expertise it has with its current technology platform and find a compatible solution with the functionality that would meet its requirements. The TECSYS solution responded to 98.5% of the company’s functionality requirements. Brault & Martineau was also sold on the maturity of the system and the expertise of the TECSYS Logistics Management Group professionals.
