FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Ref. #NRE2006-05
MONTREAL, March 22, 2006—TECSYS Inc. (TSX: TCS) announced today that Empire Southwest, the Caterpillar dealer for Arizona, Southeastern California and portions of Northern Mexico, has chosen TECSYS’ EliteSeries Transportation Management System (TMS) to manage its product delivery system and enhance customer service.
Empire Southwest will interface EliteSeries TMS with its own systems and will implement the program under the name eTrac. Using handheld devices, Empire employees will track incoming and outgoing product, shop for transportation rates and confirm delivery to customers.
“Customer service is the number one priority at Empire, so when we identify an opportunity to improve it, we jump on it,” said Ron Brown, Six Sigma Black Belt and Project Manager for the program. “Implementing a system that will give customers the status of their products at any point in time and help ensure that products are delivered on time, every time, is a natural move given our customer service philosophy.”
eTrac’s query function will allow customers to go online and check the status of products en route to them. “This will not only increase the amount of information available to customers, but will also reduce Empire’s administrative load,” Brown said.
“The work we are doing at Empire is an extension of supply chain solutions we have installed at other Caterpillar dealers,” said Greg MacNeill, President of TECSYS’ Logistics Management Group. “This implementation is the type of scenario we excel at—using advanced reporting and tracking as part of a process that has a real impact on an organization.”
Empire made the decision to go with TECSYS technology after recognizing that a flow of real-time information between its existing warehouse management system, its order entry system and a transportation management system would improve customer service. The new system will also impact the company’s bottom line by increasing delivery accuracy and reducing the administrative expenses associated with tracing deliveries.
Empire Southwest is the authorized Caterpillar dealer for heavy equipment and engines in Arizona, Southeastern California and portions of Northern Mexico. The company is headquartered in Mesa, Arizona and has facilities in Phoenix, Tucson, Yuma, Kingman, Flagstaff, Lake Havasu City, Prescott, Safford and Show Low, Arizona, as well as a site in Imperial, California.
TECSYS is a leading, fast-growing supply chain management software provider that delivers powerful enterprise distribution, warehouse and transportation logistics software solutions. The company's customers include about 800 mid-size and Fortune 1000 corporations in healthcare, giftware, office products, third-party logistics, and general wholesale high-volume distribution markets. TECSYS’ shares are listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker symbol TCS.
