Tecsys’ role within a customer’s organization has always been to empower them to reach their performance markers and set new benchmarks for their industry; and so, it is rewarding to have the opportunity to collaborate and earn distinction for a project that does just that.

Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the executive’s user manual for successful supply and demand chain transformation, has selected Tecsys as a recipient of the Top Supply Chain Projects Award for 2022 in association with the company’s supply chain transformation project at New Jersey-based third-party logistics provider of order management and direct-to-consumer eCommerce fulfillment, Capacity LLC.

The Top Supply Chain Projects (formerly known as SDCE 100) spotlights successful and innovative transformation projects that deliver bottom-line value to small, medium and large enterprises across a range of supply chain functions. These projects show how supply chain solution and service providers help their customers and clients achieve supply chain excellence and prepare their supply chains for success.

“The past 18 months have been a tumultuous time for U.S. supply chains,” explains Marina Mayer, Editor-in-Chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive. “But, the core reason today’s supply chains haven’t completely fallen apart is because solutions providers have been working diligently to partner with customers and clients to streamline processes, implement emerging technology and deliver results that improve bottom lines and the environment.“

A few years ago, Capacity LLC was approached by one of their clients that estimated 300% growth in the following months, which meant that their order fulfillment needs across B2B and B2C channels from approximately 1,000,000 square feet of warehouse space were about to mushroom and they needed real support to balance that growth horizon. In order to scale their 3PL business according to client demands, they needed a WMS that was customizable, reliable and could adapt to a rapidly evolving business environment.

In working with Tecsys, they architected a supply chain transformation that saw the introduction of a modern WMS with a deep suite of analytics that could support both the operational requirements of Capacity LLC’s sophisticated environment, as well as the growing complexity that greater omnichannel demands were placed on the 200+ person team.

Their goal was twofold; to equip their internal teams with the tools and processes to work confidently and happily while growing, and to uphold their enviable reputation for customer satisfaction.

In a recent interview with Tecsys, Thom Campbell, chief strategy officer at Capacity LLC, took time to explain the mercurial link between blending the right technology with diverse people who are passionate about what they do and how in the 3PL business, being able to grow at the intersection of people, process and technology would be the centerpiece of their formula for success.

Campbell comments, “Tecsys is absolutely core to what we do. Having a flexible partner who will customize our WMS and respond to our needs, whether it has to do with expiration dates or lot numbering or different wave types or different batching protocols. We can’t have one of the big WMS providers walk in with some 21-year-old project manager who just gives us the platform the way it was crafted or gives us a multimillion-dollar bill for the customizations we need.”

“We need a partner like Tecsys who can be responsive, provide great value, engage with us intellectually to create modifications that add value to our business and to the Tecsys platform,” continues Campbell. “This in turn enhances the value of our client’s businesses and those who understand how important we are to their ability to grow and be flexible on behalf of our clients keep coming back for more. Many of our relationships with new brands are with executives who know us from prior brand partners and we think this is one of the highest compliments our service can receive.”

Capacity LLC’s use of technology allows them to keep inventory accuracy and meet order spikes in the e-commerce sectors while providing human capital an intuitive and enjoyable work environment. Given Capacity LLC’s orchestration of logistics activities inside and outside of the warehouse, ease of use, flexibility, and ability to integrate into third parties provided a foundation to expand and deliver against evolving SLAs; and, with the help of Tecsys’ WMS, they were able to pivot to customer demands more dynamically than ever before – resulting in higher service levels for their customers.

Tecsys’ president and CEO, Peter Brereton, adds: “At Tecsys, we work hard to equip good organizations to do great things in their industry. As a supply chain technology partner focused on execution excellence, we are thrilled when our customers leverage our platform to drive their competitive and operational advantage; in Capacity LLC, we find a true benchmark for performance. Congratulations to Capacity LLC on their customer-centered growth and award-winning supply chain transformation.”
