Roche Cuts Laboratory Inventory Count Time by 84%
We brought together Adam Flood, Executive Director of Supply Chain at Wellstar, and Jonah Reinhardt, Business Systems Manager at Werner, to compare notes on running warehouse operations in two very different industries.
Wellstar’s Consolidated Service Center serves 10 hospitals. Werner operates 11 locations and supplies electrical products to customers ranging from industrial facilities to data centers. Yet it turns out they have a lot in common.
Flood and Reinhardt discuss how a visible supply chain team eases nurse anxiety on hospital units and why competing for every order shapes what a distributor will share. They also compare how each organization approaches continuous improvement: Werner relies on a dedicated team, while Wellstar has no defined team and leaves ownership with every frontline teammate.
Flood says healthcare can collaborate openly because “all of us getting better does nothing but improve our community’s health and wellbeing.” That same openness makes this conversation especially interesting. Despite their different approaches, both leaders recognize the value of giving frontline employees a voice in continuous improvement – and by the end of the conversation, they’re finding ideas worth borrowing from each other.
