Moving without disruption to the business
When Eventyrsport moved into its new warehouse in Hasselager, Denmark, in 2024, it had one clear priority: making sure customers didn't notice. A three-week test run beforehand, built on the Tecsys WMS the outdoor retailer had already relied on since 2016, made that possible. One of Denmark's largest outdoor retail chains moved its operation into a new, highly automated facility without customers noticing and without significant disruption to the business.
“We've seen Tecsys grow and gain more resources for the right things. When we're facing challenges and new development needs, the scalability in Tecsys' WMS has increased significantly. That means we can scale to what we want.”
Morten Gammelgaard
Logistics and Customer Manager, Eventyrsport
Outgrowing the old warehouse
Eventyrsport has experienced strong growth over the past 15 years, driven by high demand for outdoor gear and strong business execution. That growth made the warehouse a critical factor in the company's competitiveness.
By the years leading up to 2016, capacity and efficiency were increasingly strained in Eventyrsport's old warehouse. Morten Gammelgaard, Eventyrsport's logistics and customer manager, says the company needed more products on the shelves and had to turn them over faster to stay competitive on both inbound and outbound logistics. That analysis led Eventyrsport to move from paper-based pick lists to a Tecsys WMS in 2016, laying the foundation for the efficiency the company continues to build on today.
Digitalization brought clear gains in speed and accuracy, but rising volumes eventually pushed the warehouse to its capacity limit.
New warehouse, same WMS
In 2024, Eventyrsport opened a new warehouse in Hasselager. At its core is an AutoStore installation with 30,000 bins that handles up to 98% of the product assortment, backed by a pallet storage area for bulk and oversized items.
The bigger decision was keeping its existing Tecsys WMS as the platform coordinating both areas. Gammelgaard says scaling into automation was relatively straightforward with a WMS the company already had in place.
Eventyrsport upgraded and configured its existing WMS to handle both the AutoStore system and the pallet warehouse, so every warehouse process stays on a single platform.
A frictionless transition
The move to the new warehouse was the real test of that decision. Eventyrsport wanted the transition to be smooth for its customers.
“We had a strong desire for the move to be smooth for our customers. We worked out ahead of time what it would take to get our WMS and the new AutoStore working together, and we had a solid three-week test run before we moved in. So customers didn't actually notice that we'd moved.”

Close collaboration between Eventyrsport and Tecsys, paired with thorough planning, meant the implementation ran without significant disruption to operations.
Results
Meaningfully more efficient
Eventyrsport is now between 30% and 40% more efficient with Tecsys and AutoStore working together.
Fewer manual processes
Items in AutoStore are picked automatically, while the WMS makes sure orders combining AutoStore and pallet-warehouse items still ship as a single order.
Smarter inventory placement
Oversized items that physically can't fit in AutoStore go to the pallet area, and Eventyrsport can also choose to pick certain high-demand overstock items directly from the pallet warehouse instead of cycling them through AutoStore. AutoStore replenishment runs automatically, and very little additional development has been needed, because the WMS was already scaled for the shift.
A partnership that drives development
As Eventyrsport's needs have evolved, the Tecsys WMS has scaled right along with them.
What's next
Eventyrsport and Tecsys have worked together since 2016, and that relationship now shapes how Eventyrsport plans its warehouse operations. Ongoing dialogue and a shared focus on optimization mean the WMS continues to adapt as new needs come up.
Gammelgaard stresses that Eventyrsport has built an extremely strong partnership with Tecsys over that time. By keeping and reconfiguring its existing Tecsys WMS instead of replacing it, Eventyrsport brought AutoStore and pallet-warehouse workflows onto a single platform, gained 30% to 40% more efficiency, and moved into a new warehouse without customers noticing.
